Meet the Instructors at Blackwell Academy Woodbridge
Chief Instructor - Mr Peter Owen
Peter has been involved in martial arts for over 10 years and holds Black Belts in both Kickboxing and Krav Maga. Peter is known for his ability to adapt his teaching methods to engage both complete novices to experienced students.
Peter is currently training for his 2nd Dan Black Belt in Kick Boxing, and is the lead Krav Maga instructor in both Woodbridge and at the main academy in Ipswich.
Chief Instructor - Mr Ian Turner
Ian started his martial arts journey after watching his children take up Karate. Ian is now a 3rd Dan Black Belt Kickboxer and is passionate about the sport. Ian is always keen to share his knowledge of martial arts with his students, and always delivers and expects a high standard of training.
Ian is also a Black Belt in Krav Maga and heads up tuition at our sister club in Stowmarket.
Karate Instructor - Jordan Owen
Jordan is a 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate and following in the family footsteps puts his knowledge to good use teaching the younger students, putting them through their paces in Karate. With a big grin, Jordan loves a push up and expects a disciplined approach to training.
Karate Instructor - Stephen Buxton
Although still only young, Stephen is a well season veteran of the Karate competition circuit. He's competed in many UK competitions and his technical skills and knowledge of this discipline are extensive. Stephen is one of our senior Karate instructors and is a favourite with members young and old.
Karate Instructor - Vanessa Morphew
Vanessa started karate in 2013 at the age of 10 and just four and a half years later received her 1st Dan Black belt. As well as having competed in many competitions Vanessa has been coaching Karate since 2016. With belts in Krav Maga and Kickboxing, Vanessa regularly trains in all three martial arts disciplines.
